We don’t talk about it. We would never admit google-ing it. Not to mention, battling it. It’s easier to find excuses for the way our mind and our body feel . After all, anxiety is such a taboo. Nevertheless, we struggle with its manifestation.
But what if we can turn it around? And go from striving to thriving? Let’s take the stigma out together and discover the ally in anxiety.
My worst enemy and my best ally is all about explaining what stress and fear are expressed on our daily lives. Nothing we should be scared of, nothing we should be ashamed of. We live stressful lives, we take little to no time for ourselves, we want to achieve more and more and that’s actually impressive. But my worst enemy and my best ally wants to show how we can achieve even more while we are relaxed and rested. It is focusing on decisions and actions and behaviour driven by fear, by the fear we don’t even realize.
What drives our reactions? What drives our decisions? Our baggage of knowledge. What is our baggage of knowledge? All we have experienced, all we have learned, all we were taught by our care takers, by our teachers, by our friends, by our society, by our religions, by all the media.
I am focusing my book on all of us, making our decisions motivated by what we should do more than what we feel like doing or being who we want to be.
Anxiety is just a big word for being constantly stressed about doing the right thing, being the way the world around us expects us to be instead of just being perfect the way we are.
My worst enemy and my best ally tries to shed some light on why we feel stressed all the time, how we deal with this stress, and how we can leverage all we know to be the best version of ourselves and not only that, but to be in awe with ourselves, the way we feel, the way we react, the pure perfection of who we are.
Every decision we make, is made out of love or out of fear. These are our main drivers.
Decisions made out of love will build you up, will bring you to higher grounds and make you feel alive.
I wanted to give a special place in this book to the overwhelming feeling of not being good enough for our families, for our society, for ourselves or actually us feeling we are never good enough, we never achieved as much as we think we could have achieved, as much as our society and examples around us have achieved. I hope it puts your mind at ease learning you are not alone in this feeling and that you are actually amazing in reality, all of you – YOU just need to realize this.
How about that competition? Everywhere we see people comparing us and themselves with other people so that makes us competitive since we are born. We are also competitive to survive. But did you ever think comparing yourself to someone else is actually limiting you? The only fair competition is actually yourself from today with yourself from the day before. Being a better version of yourself everyday but taking time to define what you want to be and caring for yourself in the process.
I wrote this book as a tribute to anxiety.
It has been a lifelong companion and it has taught me so much along the way. I am grateful to have experienced it to all the various degrees described in this book.
